Be visible and warn drivers in the event of a change of direction or braking

When cycling, it is essential to have good lighting for your safety but also that of others When you travel around town by bicycle.

A bicycle light allows you to be visible to other road users, including pedestrians, motorcyclists and motorists.

Overade offers you, through its range of high-end Oxi products, all the answers to your visibility needs.

Indeed, according to a study carried out by the French Federation of Bicycle Users (FUB), almost half of cycling accidents in the city take place at night or in low light conditions. This shows the importance of having efficient lighting to avoid the risk of accidents.

Having lighting on your bike is frequently mandatory in many countries. In France lighting is compulsory. The absence of lighting can result in a fine of 22 euros, according to article R313-1 of the Highway Code.

In summary, having good lighting on your bike is crucial for your safety and that of other road users when traveling around town. It can reduce the risk of accidents and improve your visibility on the road. Additionally, it is also mandatory in many countries, including France. So, don't forget to check your lighting regularly before hitting the road!

Lighting on a bicycle helmet brings you safety and simplicity

When traveling by bike in the city, it is important to have sufficient lighting for your safety . But did you know that putting lights on an urban bike helmet can further improve your visibility on the road?

In fact, the lights on a bicycle helmet can help other road users to better spot you since they are located at a higher height than the lights installed on the handlebars , mudguard or frame of your bicycle. This safety point was confirmed in a study by Clemson University in South Carolina (USA). This study reveals that indeed cyclists with lights on their bike helmets are more visible from a distance than those with lights only installed on their bike.

Installing lights on a bicycle helmet is also very practical for urban cyclists who use self-service or shared bicycles . Just manage your bike helmet and the lights follow!
The subject becomes even more trivial when you use our PLIXI FIT folding bicycle helmet which is 100% compatible with our Oxi range lights. So our lights installed on our helmet do not hinder the folding of the latter.

Bike lighting. Between safety and respect for the highway code

When traveling by bike in the city, it is crucial to have lights for your safety and that of other road users. Front and rear bike lights improve your visibility and reduce the risk of accidents , especially at night or in low light conditions.

According to a study by the French Federation of Bicycle Users (FUB), almost half of bicycle accidents in the city take place at night or in low light conditions.

The front and rear lights on a bicycle help other road users to better see you, especially motorists who may have difficulty seeing cyclists on the road, including in town. According to a study conducted by the University of Illinois (USA), cyclists with front lighting have increased visibility 5.5 times greater than those without them .

Let's not forget the regulatory aspect either. In France, according to article R313-1 of the Highway Code, it is mandatory to have a working light on your bike!

Our OxiLum and OxiTurn lighting solutions can be installed in just a few moments wherever you want on your bike (bike stem, bike seat tube or even wheel guard if your bike is equipped with one) using our system universal attachment (optional)

Flashing function on bike lights. Better than extending your arm to indicate a change of direction

When traveling by bike in the city, it is important to be visible and understood by other road users as we have already seen. This is especially true when you change direction. In this context, bicycle lights equipped with indicators are the perfect products. Bike lights with a left-right flashing function indicate your direction and intentions to other road users with a simple press of the remote control attached to the handlebars of your bike and which accompanies our OxiTurn lighting.

According to a study by the University of Illinois (USA), cyclists who use bicycle lights with left-right flashing functions are better understood by motorists and pedestrians than those who do not. This actively contributes to securing the travel of urban cyclists.

The left-right indicators of bicycle lights are particularly useful when you need to turn or change direction on the road because they help other road users to better anticipate your movements and adapt their behavior accordingly .

Our OxiTurn lights with directional indicators can be installed on your urban bike helmet but also on your bike thanks to our universal attachment system (sold as an option). You can control several OxiTurns simultaneously with a single remote control.

A bicycle brake warning to improve communication with those following you

When you are cycling in the city, it is important to be noticed by other road users to avoid accidents. One of the most effective ways is to use a brake warning, in addition to a "classic" position light, to inform road users following you when you brake, even if you are not in their direct field of vision.

Brake alarms for bicycles are becoming more and more popular, and rightly so . According to a study carried out by the Road Safety Association, the use of a brake warning can reduce the risk of accidents by more than 50% . In fact, it allows other road users to better anticipate your movements, thus reducing the risk of collision.

Additionally, having a brake warning on your bike also improves your riding comfort. Your stress is reduced when you are closely followed by another road user (And we know from experience that some are particularly stressful!)

The bicycle brake warning also allows you to better control your speed since you no longer have to brake suddenly to signal your stop.

Our OxiBrake bicycle brake detector slips onto your brake lever. As soon as you brake, it triggers the OxiLum lighting associated with it . According to our tests, a mechanical trigger such as ours proves to be more reliable than a trigger based on an accelerometer. So our OxiBrake mechanical braking detector is not faulty when the road surface has surprises (potholes, paved areas, etc.)

Even when cycling, flashing the headlights can be useful.

When cycling in the city, it is important to be noticed by other road users to avoid accidents. In a certain number of circumstances (narrow streets, non-respect by motorists of your wrong-way bike lanes, at night, etc.) one of the most effective ways to signal you is to flash your headlights. This makes it easier for motorists approaching you to spot you and adapt their driving accordingly.

According to a study carried out by the French Cycle Tourism Federation, bicycles equipped with a headlight flasher are better spotted by motorists, particularly in narrow streets and urban areas.

Our OxiLum helmet lighting coupled with our OxiBrake braking detector (offered together in the "OxiBrake Starter" pack) offers you the possibility of very simply generating a powerful headlight flash. Find out.
